Before moving to Nashville,
Tennessee in 2000, Kristina Marie Krug spent eight years
as a freelance art director in Chicago for advertising,
editorial, and catalog clients, and she began shooting
for some of the same clients she worked for as a designer.
Her experience in print design and branding give her a
unique vantage point, making shoots smooth for art directors
and photo editors.
In her portrait work, Kristina is gifted in photographing everyday people. She is inspired by an insatiable desire to uncover individual and universal truths captured during a momentary glimpse through her lens. Her unique unique perspective is full of compassion. And though some of her portraits may
often be reality unfiltered, they still seem to reveal a tangible sense of beauty and
hope. She shoots photographs that are honest, vivid, memorable, and timeless.
Kristina has a fully digital post-production
workflow.
Shooting 'analog' cultivates an intuitive experience for her, so she loves shooting with manual cameras ’Äì especially in her personal work ’Äì for the organic quality, color saturation, grain, tone, warmth, and detail that is eminent in film photography.
Kristina is also currently working
on a photo documentary about The
Women of Magdalene: intimate portraits of recovery from
abuse, prostitution, and drug addiction. See the work here.
